The Best Sea Salt I have ever tasted! November 19, 2006 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
I am new to the world of gourmet salts--and this jar of flakey white granules has been in great demand in my house since we received a few weeks ago! The granules are the size of the salt on a hot pretzel--but that is where the similiarities end. The salt dissolves instantly on the tongue; it has no bitter or cloying aftertaste. The jar suggests it be used on grilled fish and salads, but I would reccomend it in lieu of table salt also.
My mind is blown April 27, 2007 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I originally bought this small container of fleur de sel for a fish recipe I found that said it was "de rigeur", however I thought it was like any other salt simply grainier. Of course, I only added a little bit of salt after I had grilled my fish and did not think it would add much to the dish. Can you imagine my surprise when I tasted the fish, only to have a veritable bouquet of flavour explode in my mouth. I must say that I'm never going to use commercial salt on my food anymore. Now I understand why the great chefs of the past and present consider this the queen of all salts...
A Must Have in Your Pantry! October 3, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is the salt that started the whole fancy salt craze, go to any fancy gourmet store this days and you will find 20+ varieties of exotic salts from Hawaii to Tibet (yes Tibet...go figure!) with every color shade from grey to pink. If you ask me, that's the only Salt you need in your pantry, this is the real thing! Harvested by hand in Guerande, France and dried under the sun, a little crystal on your tongue is like breathing the fresh marine air of Brittany. Use it on cooked scallops, fish and even meat and it will take your food to another level. Highly recommended by a Private Chef and many many Celebrity chefs out there.
Very nice gourmet sea salt! January 8, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This salt has a great flavor. And, a little goes a long way. I was very pleased with my order from DAS Salt/DAS Foods - fast shipping, great product, pleasant thank you note and samples included with my order. Although it's not inexpensive, an order of gourmet salts is well worth it from this company. I will be trying other varieties soon.
Fleur de Sel August 13, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Fleur de Sel is the best finishing salt there is. Don't use Fleur de Sel in a soup, but on a crisp salad or on sprinkled on a soft-boiled egg. You want to taste it not melt it. It's worth the money! My favorite is a raw freshly rinsed raddish dipped in the Fleur de Sel it's the perfect combination!
