The red alder tree grows along the coast from from California to Alaska. It is an abundant hardwood used for making fine furniture. The Salish and other costal tribes ate the bark of the alder tree and used it for medicines. The wood from the red alder is often used for smoking meats and is considered one of the best woods for smoking salmon.

Our alderwood smoked sea salt is created from pure Pacific sea salt slowly smoked over a red alderwood fire. This smoked salt is 100% natural. No liquid smoke, artificial flavors or coloring is added.
