Product Description "Dick, I need a war." Nicolas Creel is a man on a mission. He heads up the world's largest defense contractor, The Ares Corporation. Dick Pender is the man Creel retains to "perception manage" his company to even more riches by manipulating international conflicts. But Creel may have an even grander plan in mind. Shaw, a man with no first name and a truly unique past, has a different agenda. Reluctantly doing the bidding of a secret multi-national intelligence agency, he travels the globe to keep it safe and at peace. Willing to do anything to get back to the top of her profession, Katie James is a journalist who has just gotten the break of a lifetime: the chance to interview the sole survivor of a massacre that has left every nation stunned. In this terrifying, global thriller, these characters' lives will collide head-on as a series of events is set in motion that could change the world as we know it. An utterly spellbinding story that feels all too real, THE WHOLE TRUTH delivers all the twists and turns, emotional drama, unforgettable characters, and can't-put-it-down pacing that readers expect from David Baldacci-and still goes beyond anything he's written before.

For me, this was just a little 'airport book' to take my mind off the flight. I wasn't expecting much, but I got alot. A great thriller that will really make you think.
Another Baldacci Masterpiece! May 6, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
The villain of this novel is Nicolas Creel. He is the CEO of Ares Corp. Ares is the largest weapons manufacturer in the world. According to Forbes Creel is the 14th wealthiest person in the world with a net worth of $20 billion dollars. He needs unrest and conflict to help his profits and income. Dick Pender is a spin master who works for Mr. Creel. He is a specialist in "perception management. He is using his talents to create a negative perception of Russia. He is creating the Red Menace. The hero of this story is Shaw who works for an intelligence group. His handler is Frank Wells. An organization called the Phoenix Group is killed by a group posing as Russians. The Phoenix Group is bank- rolled by the Chinese. Katie James is a journalist who was a previous winner of two Pulitzers but is now ruined in journalism. She stumbles across this story and hopes to use this opportunity to revive her career. The world is on the brink of war between Russia and China. It becomes Shaw's job to stop it. There is nonstop action in this fine book. Be sure to read it.
Sometimes the Whole Truth isn't the Truth August 27, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Welcome to the world of Perception Management an art that takes spin to a whole 'nother level. Spinning is spinning the truth. Perception Management is spinning lies and turning them into the truth or rather, what people believe is the truth. It took a guy like Hitler awhile to spread the Big Lie, in the online world, if done right, the lie moves like wildfire.
Nicholas Creel wants a war, or at least, the threat of one, because he wants to sell arms. He'd love for Russia and China to be at each other's throats, for America to be afraid of the Red Menace once again, love for them all to be lining up and lining his pockets. World War III, is that a problem? Well, maybe not for Creel.
There's a clip going around on the internet of a Russian telling of how he had been tortured, about how his family had been killed. He says it's time the world knew, "The Whole Truth." Soon the mainstream media picks up the story, the whole world believes it, only problem is, it's not the whole truth and the super secret government agency Shaw (a super spy of the first order who only has the one name) works for wants him to investigate and Shaw, tough as he is, does what he's told, because his super secret government agency bosses have him on a short leash as Shaw has a bomb embedded in his arm.
Anna Fischer, the girl Shaw wants to chuck it all for and go off and live happily ever after with, works for a London think tank and when she's killed, because she doesn't believe the lie, Shaw wants to get even. Now throw in a disgraced female reporter named Katie James, who'd love to make her bones all over again and team her up with super tough guy Shaw and give them larger than life enemies and you have a David Baldacci story that would make Robert Ludlum proud.

Baldacci's best, by far! May 9, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Along with The Camel Club, this is the best David Baldacci book I've read. Fans of Baldacci, as well as newcomers, will love reading this book.
The Whole Truth will leave readers gasping... May 20, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Reviewed by Debra Gaynor for ReviewYourBook.com I admit I have read rumors on the internet and rushed to email the comments or link to acquaintances, only to later find out it was a hoax. By then it was too late; I had unknowingly assisted in a smear campaign. I had contacted 10 or more who had contacted 10 or more yada, yada, yada. Suddenly millions have false information. The internet can be a person's best friend or worse enemy. The Presidential Candidates can attest to the inaccuracy of the information on the web. It is impossible to discern truth from fiction. David Baldacci uses this premise for his latest novel The Whole Truth. A video surfaces on the internet. A Russian male, "He warned that while the world had focused on the Osama bin Ladens of the world for so long, the old evil, with a destructive force a million times greater than the combined Islamic renegades, was clearly back, and deadlier than ever." A mushroom cloud followed the audio warning. The Russian president rushed to issue a denial, but the world would not listen. The largest defense contractor in the world needed orders. A war was the answer to their problems. There is a frightening hint of reality to this plot. I keep asking myself, "What if?" It is easy to imagine this actually happening. The plot could have been ripped from the headlines. David Baldacci has another winner! His fans have come to expect a high standard, and once again, he has raised the bar. The Whole Truth is a deep action-packed thriller. The characters are well-developed. The plot builds to a crescendo that will leave readers gasping. Intrigue, action, and drama, The Whole Truth, takes readers on the ride of their life.
